About PYSO
The Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) has been training tomorrow’s classical musicians since 1972. Now in its 38th year, PYSO is considered among the best youth orchestras in the Southland. This exceptional ensemble is comprised of talented middle school students from grades six through nine. These committed young people receive advanced instruction and challenging music opportunities through a rigorous program that emphasizes ensemble playing and includes a minimum of three concerts a year.
How to Join PYSO
Consider joining young people from all over LA County and beyond in auditioning for Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Placement in orchestra is contingent upon availability and audition.
The String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble are challenging and ambitious groups that enhance musicians’ skills and offer outstanding performance opportunities. Auditions for PYSO, String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble are open to students who will be in grades 6 through 9 in September of the year that they audition.
