There is an Application Fee of $30 for PYSO payable online at the time of registration. PYSO also accepts checks by mail. Checks must be received by Friday, May 17, 2013. If no payment has been received (either by secure online payment or check by mail) the student may still be allowed to pay the audition fee at the time of their audition. However, the application fee will then be $40.00 on the day of the audition.
AUDITION BASICS:
Each applicant will have access to a warm-up space before his/her audition.
STRINGS: Prepare a short solo piece (one copy of the music for the judge panel). You must be prepared to play a 2 or 3-octave scale of your choice and one of the judge’s choice. You will also be asked to demonstrate sight-reading.
WINDS & BRASS: Prepare a solo and provide a copy of the music for the judge panel. You must be prepared to play a chromatic scale and a 2-octave major scale.
PERCUSSION: Must be proficient on snare, timpani and mallets. Snare drum and sticks are not provided.
NOTE: The judges may stop you before you have played your piece in its entirety. You are not required to play from memory.
